Although kali was the ancient martial art of the Phillipines, it is the Spanish term arnis de mano ‘harness of the hand,’ that describes the self-defense system of the Phillipines. This art in the main uses twin sticks and bladed weapons. Arnis also goes under another name escrima which means ‘skirmish’ in Spanish.
